Jingle Bell Jog Recap

Hey Everyone,

I'm sorry for the delay in posting - things have been crazy with work/life, and I'm battling an annoying case of shin splints.  But anyways, here are the pics and videos from the Jingle Bell Jog.  Big thanks to Matt Thomas for his continued web design magic as well as photo editing, and Matt Babcock for his video editing.  Tyghe of course gets credit for all the photos and videos, and probably owes his fiance an explanation for why there are so many crotch shots of me.

"We dress like this every day in Brooklyn!" - Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, in his opening speech before the race. The irony of Markowitz, who looks like he is carried everywhere on a palanquin, kicking off a non-cheesecake eating race, is not lost on me.

Before the run:

The big reveal:

Tyghe and his fiance may need to have a talk:

This one's for Joe and Shelby - Thanks for the extra push for the bonus round!

And here's one for your Christmas Cards:

I am currently the 10th biggest fundraiser in NYC for the Team in Training program.  If my experience with No Fear T-shirts tells me anything, that's the 9th loser.  Help me out!

Love,

-Eric

LAST MINUTE BONUS ROUND $50 - WATER STATIONS

We're closing in on the race day, and after checking out the course map, I noticed something odd.  Water stations!  Three of them!  For less than 4 miles!  This is kind of ridiculous.

SO:

CHALLENGE - for $50 per water station, I will dump the water on myself during the run.

DEADLINE - FRIDAY NIGHT!

DONATE

UPDATE - First $50 has been obtained, so I'll be hitting the first water station.  I think i'll try and double fist the cups and dump them on my head.  Kinda hope it's actually Gatorade.

Saturday is just around the corner

Got all my gear in the mail today and I have to say, the outfit is even better than I could have hoped.  The bow tie really makes everything "pop."

Also:

Looks like it'll be a perfect day for a race!  For those of you that are gonna show up - the race starts at 9AM.  Here's the route.  I've got Tyghe taking pictures and video, but he'll probably do a crappy job, so please come out and document it.

Hope to see you Saturday!

Puttin' on the Ritz

Hey everyone,

Just did a little bit of shopping:

Gonna be a fancy day!

Update and Sneak Preview

Thanks to the inestimable generosity of my friend Tyghe (actually it's totally estimable - $150) The Speedo has been picked.  This is going to be a black tie race!

He has also volunteered to get video and photo footage of the event, so look forward to that.

THE NEXT CHALLENGE WILL BE: THE BLINDFOLD MILE

Official post and donation limit will come after we put up the pictures and video from the Jingle Bell Jog.

In the meantime - You can "bank" your donations for future challenges.  Just donate, and either leave a note on the donation page or a comment on the site and I'll make sure to apply it to the challenge of your choice.  This is great if you wanna get the rest of your donations done in 2011!

Thanks everyone for your generosity!

BONUS ROUND - $150 - PICK MY OUTFIT - COMPLETE!

Wow.  So I either underestimated your generosity or your desire to humiliate me, so let's take it to the next level!

CHALLENGE - For $150, I will wear the Speedo of your choice! (COMPLETED)

I was planning on wearing a classic black, but maybe you want me to dress things up a little?

Or perhaps, something with a little more color to it?

Why not something ... exotic?

DEADLINE - SATURDAY, December 3rd at 5PM (Happy Birthday Mom!)

I'll put a poll up to help people decide, but preference goes to the donors who get me there.  If you're not happy with the choices provided, I do all my swimsuit shopping at SwimOutlet, so feel free to find something else for me if you want.  I'd say let's go for stuff in a size 32 to minimize any chafing.

What are you waiting for? Give Till It Hurts!

Challenge #1 - $250 - Jingle Bell Slog - COMPLETE!

I fucking hate Christmas music.  I don't understand how anybody can care about anything for as long as people seem to care about Christmas music.  I had an ex-girlfriend that would listen to it nonstop from Thanksgiving onward and never got tired of it.  To me, that's more of a red-flag than animal torture.

But this isn't my opening salvo in the War on Christmas (as a Jew, I think we started that 2011 years ago - whoops).  It's just the introduction to our first challenge.

I just signed up for the NY Road Runners Jingle Bell Jog, a fun, holly-jolly 4 mile jog through Brooklyn's Prospect Park on December 10th.  Apparently people dress up like reindeer and prance around like a less-fun version of Santacon.

(This looks like a bunch of fun too, sure)

Anyways, it looks like this could be a nice, relaxing run.  Or, it could be a brutally cold, frostbite inducing death march.

CHALLENGE #1: For $250, I will run the Jingle Bell Jog in nothing but a Speedo (Donation Link) COMPLETE!

I don't care if there's snow on the ground or it's pouring rain, I will do the whole goddamn race in a tiny speedo, my running shoes, and maybe a nice pair of pink knee socks.  I also might wear a pair of gloves if it's particularly nippy, and I'm a pussy.  If for some reason it's freakishly warm, I'll do the run on a colder day, promise!

To make matters worse: look at the race's soundtrack.  This may prove to be the most brutal part of the whole thing.

As of this writing, I'm $25 over my original $1,600 goal (thanks, Meg!), so that counts.  The new goal is $1,850.

DEADLINE: December 9th at 7:00 PM

We'll probably do weekly challenges from here on out, but I wanted to give you guys enough time to find the site and warm up your wallets.

You can use the widget in the top right hand corner of this page, or donate directly to my page

Give till it hurts!
